Investing in our Future

St. John’s Learning Center is licensed by the State of Michigan to care for children ages 6 weeks – 12 years old.

We have 4 classrooms that run year round.

In the summer, and during school vacations, we also offer a school age program for children 6 – 12 years old.

The staff at the Learning Center provide a nurturing and caring environment while helping the

children learn through play in a variety of activities. We strive to maintain the highest quality administration, staff, and curriculum that will encourage all aspects of a child’s development, including spiritual, social, physical, emotional, and intellectual growth.

Please contact Director, Jen Robinson, at (517) 266-2425 or daycare@stjohnsadrian.org

for more information on employment opportunities, or enrollment for your child.

Infants

Ages: 6 weeks - 18 months

Staff to Child Ratio: 1:4

Class size: up to 12

The teachers meet the children's needs consistently, promptly, and lovingly; reacting to an infant's needs this way helps develop a sense of trust. The infant environment is structures as well as adjusted to meet, develop, and enhance all the stages of the first year of life. Infants have daily opportunities for development in: large and small motor, sensory, social, discovery, and creative activities. A daily infant record is completed and sent home each day, including information on eating, naps, diaper changes, and activities.

Toddlers

Ages: 18 months – 2 ½ years

Staff to Child Ratio: 1:4

Class Size: up to 12

The toddlers are curious and energetic, needing interaction with warm and loving teachers to establish a nurturing and trusting relationship. The teachers help foster growing independence in daily play, learning activities, and experiences to build life skills. Toddlers have daily opportunities for development in the following areas: large and small motor, sensory, social, discovery, and creative activities. A daily toddler report is completed and sent home each day a child attends. This form includes information on eating, napping, diaper changes or toilet training, and activities from the day.

Early Preschoolers

Ages: 2 ½ years – 3 ½ years

Staff to Child Ratio: 1:8

Class Size: up to 8

The teachers help the children with the transition from the toddler program to the preschool program as they work on developing their ever-changing skills. The schedule and activities look similar to those of the preschool class, just tailored to the current developmental level of the children. The children have daily opportunities for development in the following areas: large and small motor, sensory, social, discovery, and creative activities. Daily reports are filled out upon request if parents would like to know any specifics about a child’s day (e.g. eating, napping, potty training).

Preschool

Ages: 3 1/2 years - 5 years

Staff to Child Ratio: 1:10

Class Size: up to 20

Preschool children are more independent and interact freely with their peers, and are given opportunities to foster the skills necessary for success in kindergarten and beyond. The teachers help then learn through play, while utilizing curriculum components and developmentally appropriate learning stations. The children have daily opportunities for development in: large and small motor skills, sensory, social, discovery, and creative activities.

School Age

Ages: 6 years – 12 years

Staff to Child Ratio: 1:16

Class Size: up to 16

Our school age program is for children ages 6 (or has completed Young 5s/Kindergarten) - 12 years old. We provide care when local schools are closed (either for scheduled days off or for unplanned closings), as well as during the summer months. We offer the school age children a positive atmosphere while enjoying age appropriate activities indoors and outdoors. The children in our program will have a fun-filled summer while also working on maintaining their academic skills.

Jesus Loves the Little Children!

At St. John’s Learning Center, we believe that children are a gift from God and should be gently guided with love and care. We know that God has appointed parents as the primary instructors of their children; therefore, the staff works with the parents to offer quality learning opportunities for the children. We utilize One in Christ religious curriculum and give the children opportunities to grow in their faith each day. All classes pray together before meals, read Bible stories, and learn religious songs, while the preschool class also attends a weekly Chapel session led by our pastor. While in our care, they are taught that they are a child of God and that His love for them is never-ending.
