Dear Members and
Friends of St. John’s Lutheran Church,
God is indeed our refuge and strength, and
we do not fear, but we still need to use sanctified common sense out of love
for one another.
After listening to the CDC reports and
recommendations from our State and Federal authorities and in light of
transmission of the COVID-19 virus, we have made the decision to cancel our
in-person worship Services until the end of March. This means we will not have Worship Services
on Wednesdays or Sundays, no FaithBuilder classes, Bible classes, or other
church-related activities through the end of March. At that time, we will re-evaluate the
situation and communicate any changes.
While this is a difficult and unwanted
decision for us, let’s all remember:
-Jesus is not
limited to space and time, nor to these temporary changes!
-God and His Word
are still available to each one of us for our spiritual care and nourishment.
-Be aware of those
around us, in your neighborhood, place of employment, even in your home who are
scared and anxiety-ridden by all the changes we’re experiencing and be the
calming Christ-like influence for them.
-Pastor Joel is
available to give you the Lord’s Supper
in an individual Service, as we have for those who are homebound. Contact Pastor Joel at the office (263-5012)
or home (266-8540), and we’ll make arrangements, or he can meet you in the
Sanctuary or chapel for a brief Service of Communion.
-We will be live-streaming our Wednesday and Sunday
worship services in an abbreviated format at 6:30pm Wednesdays, and the
regular times of 8:30 and 11:00 on Sundays.
-Faith Builders:
- Confirmation
class, we are looking at having a ZOOM class together at 9:45…stay tuned!
- High
School Youth will be meeting online through ZOOM video conferencing on Sunday
mornings at 9:45am.
- The
youth group (7-12th grade) will be meeting online through ZOOM video
conferencing for Youth Nights on Wednesdays at 1:30pm. Set-up a free ZOOM
account and check your email for a link to join these meetings.
- Stan
Masters’ Adult Class can work at home. Click here for the readings and notes.
-Stay in
prayer! Be in the Word! Be the Christ-like Calm & Peace!
“Gracious Father
in heaven, your Son taught us to be anxious about nothing and to let the day’s
cares be sufficient for the day. These
days have been hard and full of anxiety.
Quiet our minds and hearts, we pray.
Grant us nights of restful sleep and refreshment. Watch over us, our families, our neighbors,
our communities, our nation, and all the nations of the world. Preserve us from
discord and strife. Endow our leaders
with wisdom and sound judgment. Protect
us from every evil of body and soul. And
remind us of your ever good and gracious will to save and to bless. As you have reconciled the world and all
things to yourself in the death of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, so grant
to us all a measure of your peace. For
your Name’s sake, we pray. Amen.”
Remember that these changes are temporary
and that God will bring His good from these times. He is alone our refuge and strength, a very
present help; therefore, we will not fear!
Pointing to Jesus,
Pastor Joel Sarrault and the Elders of St.
John’s.
